The romantic notion of sailing is as true today as it has been throughout maritime history. Out on the water, in harmony with the natural forces, sailing can be many different things to a large universe of different types of people. It can be exciting, invigorating, relaxing, challenging, physically difficult or undertaken with minimum physical strength required. Sailing can be competitive or relaxed, exacting or slow paced. Sailing can be enjoyed by people of all ages and physical conditions, and is a sport that always offers more to learn and more to enjoy. - United States Sailing Association |
