Our Fleet
|

The
Boating FleetThe CSUMB Boating Education Program has a fleet of
vessels ranging from kayaks to 30-foot yachts, used for sailing classes,
boating safety, certification and natural history expeditions.
| Small Boats |
We
have two classes of dinghies available for instruction: 13' Flying Junior
sailboats and 13' Picos. The Picos are very easy to handle, perform well
under light to moderate winds, and are not only a great boat to begin
with, but popular with our more experienced sailors. The FJ's are used
for our courses ranging from intermediate instruction to collegiate racing.
These fast, fun boats are an ideal way to learn the basics of sailing
quickly. They plane easily in moderate air and their wide, flat stern
provides stability and control in most wind and sea conditions.

| Martin 16 |
Our
Martin 16, courtesy of the Department of Boating and Waterways, is a beautiful,
sleek boat, fully operable by a single person. It's been touted as the world's
most comfortable day sailer. With a deep ballasted keel and simple control
systems, the Martin 16 is a safe daysailer for sailors of all abilities
and can be rigged by one person in minutes! The unique configuration makes
this boat especially accessible to people with special needs.| Boston Whaler |

| Ocean Kayaks |
We have a fleet of 1 and 2 person Ocean Kayaks that
are available for rental and for
our youth and adult natural history expeditions and classes. These are
sit-on-top kayaks with safety training required but minimal experience
necessary for safe handling.
