What better way to spend a summer day than sailing
on a light breeze or exploring the extraordinary marine habitat of Monterey
Bay! Our youth sailing, kayaking and surfing courses are offered through
the North Monterey Country Recreation and Parks District (NCRPD) with
support from the Dept. of Boating and Waterways. The camps offer a fun
and instructive way to develop safe boating practices and learn the rudiments
of sailing, kayaking and surfing. From beginning to advanced, instruction
is tailored to develop these life-long skills.
What to bring for sailing and kayaking programs:
Required: Must be able to swim. Swim tests will be
conducted on first day. Please bring a wetsuit.
| Youth Extreme Sailing (Y.E.S.) |
Y.E.S. classes allow youth from 8 to 18 to learn
to sail on 11' 5" Vanguard Pico sailboats. These fun, safe boats
are ideal for learning the basics of sailing. Instruction also includes
boating safety, rigging a boat, understanding sea and wind conditions,
working as a team, nautical terminology, knots, racing, and much more.
